JAZZ VOICES
Known for its complex harmonies, tight grooves, improvisation, and unique combination of vocalists and instrumentalists, BYU Jazz Voices is a breath of fresh air to audiences of all kinds. Jazz Voices (previously known as Syncopation) is the primary vocal jazz ensemble within the Commercial Music Division of the School of Music. Directed by Hayley Kirkland, the group comprises eight to twelve vocalists and a three-piece rhythm section. They tackle a diverse repertoire of jazz, blues, Latin and pop music.
BYU Jazz Voices has embraced a wide range of musical influences, reflecting a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The ensemble's history highlights a consistent effort to welcome artists from various backgrounds, underscoring the essence of jazz as a genre born from diverse cultural experiences.
