But Not for Me | BYU Synthesis feat. Cosmo the Cougar (Song by George Gershwin, arr. Bob Minzter)

Lauded as one of the finest university jazz ensembles in the United States, BYU’s Premier Big Band has been thrilling audiences worldwide since 1971. Some of Brigham Young University’s finest and most versatile musicians perform, arrange, and compose for this award-winning ensemble that covers a variety of styles including Swing, Blues, Latin, Fusion, and Funk.

Synthesis has received enthusiastic responses from festival, student, and community gatherings in over nineteen nations and four continents worldwide. Some of these performances include the Montreaux International Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland, and the Pori International Jazz Festival in Finland.

Downbeat Magazine recognized Synthesis with their "Top College Big Band" and "Outstanding Performance" awards. In 2022, Synthesis was personally invited by Wynton Marsalis to perform as one of ten bands at the Jack Rudin Jazz Championship, where they were awarded the best trombone and trumpet section as well as receiving numerous outstanding soloist awards.
